Depolarization Abnormality Index (DAI): Explanation and Clinical Context DAI is a quantitative ECG measure designed to evaluate intraventricular conduction abnormalities and predict risk of adverse cardiac events. It is calculated by subtracting the intrinsicoid deflection in leads V5 or V6 from the total QRS duration and dividing by the QRS duration. A higher DAI indicates a greater conduction abnormality and potential risk for ventricular arrhythmias or sudden cardiac death.

Clinically, DAI is particularly useful in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy, structural heart disease, or post-myocardial infarction, aiding in risk stratification and guiding further management.
