Framingham Lipid Risk Subscore: Explanation and Clinical Context The Framingham Lipid Risk Subscore estimates 10-year risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) using the lipid-based model, combining age, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, blood pressure, and smoking. It originates from the Framingham Heart Study and the Adult Treatment Panel III (ATP III) guidelines, which provide both point-based and regression-based risk estimates. The tool aids in primary prevention planning, identifying patients who benefit from statins, and supporting shared decision-making.
