Get With The Guidelines–Heart Failure (GWTG-HF) Risk Score: Explanation and Clinical Context GWTG-HF Risk Score is a validated tool to estimate in-hospital mortality risk for patients admitted with acute decompensated heart failure. It uses simple clinical variables available at hospital admission, including age, systolic blood pressure, heart rate, serum sodium, blood urea nitrogen, COPD status, and race. The total score stratifies patients into low, intermediate, or high risk for in-hospital mortality.
This tool helps clinicians with risk stratification, treatment planning, and resource allocation.
