MR-proADM Index: Explanation and Clinical Context Midregional proadrenomedullin (MR-proADM) is a stable fragment of adrenomedullin precursor, a peptide involved in vasodilation, endothelial function, and cardiovascular homeostasis. It serves as a biomarker for cardiovascular and sepsis-related risk, reflecting disease severity and predicting adverse outcomes. Clinical studies have shown that MR-proADM levels correlate with prognosis in patients with heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, and sepsis.
Risk stratification based on MR-proADM (nmol/L): - < 0.75 nmol/L: Low risk - 0.75–1.5 nmol/L: Intermediate risk - > 1.5 nmol/L: High risk This index helps clinicians identify patients at higher risk for adverse cardiovascular events and mortality, guiding monitoring intensity and therapeutic decisions.
