CRISP Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Risk Score: Explanation and Clinical Context The CRISP (Catheterization RISk Score for Pediatrics) model is a validated risk tool to predict serious adverse events (SAEs) in pediatric patients undergoing cardiac catheterization. } It incorporates multiple pre‑procedural variables (age, procedure risk level, hemodynamic vulnerability, use of inotropes or mechanical support, emergency status, and other factors) to produce a numeric score. Higher CRISP scores correspond to higher risk of SAE during or immediately after the procedure (e.g. vascular injury, arrhythmia, hemodynamic collapse). In the original study, the CRISP score improved discrimination (AUC ~ 0.74) compared to the initial 10‑variable model (AUC ~ 0.715).

This tool may assist in procedural planning, parental counseling, resource allocation (e.g. closer monitoring or backup support) and quality improvement.
