2012 EULAR ACR Polymyalgia Rheumatica Classification Criteria Explanation and Clinical Context The 2012 EULAR ACR classification criteria for polymyalgia rheumatica are designed to help classify patients presenting with new onset bilateral shoulder pain and elevated inflammatory markers. This scoring system applies to patients aged 50 years or older and integrates clinical features such as prolonged morning stiffness, hip involvement, serologic status, and absence of peripheral joint pain. A total score of 4 points or more without ultrasound findings supports the classification of polymyalgia rheumatica.

These criteria are intended for research classification and should not replace clinical judgment.
