It incorporates key parameters including age, sex, systolic blood pressure, cholesterol levels, diabetes status, and smoking behavior. Unlike traditional models such as the Framingham or QRISK scores, JBS3 emphasizes patient education by illustrating the concept of "Heart Age" — representing how a person's cardiovascular system compares to that of a healthy individual of the same chronological age.

Normal Values and Interpretation A 10-year CVD risk below 10% is considered low, 10-20% moderate, and above 20% high risk. A heart age greater than the chronological age suggests accumulated vascular risk due to modifiable factors such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, or smoking. Clinical Significance JBS3 encourages proactive cardiovascular prevention.

Through lifestyle modification—cessation of smoking, regular physical activity, weight control, and adherence to antihypertensive or statin therapy—the lifetime risk and heart age can be significantly reduced.
