VTE-BLEED Score: Explanation and Clinical Context The VTE-BLEED score is a validated clinical tool developed to predict the risk of major bleeding in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy for venous thromboembolism (VTE). It incorporates seven readily available clinical parameters: active cancer, male sex with uncontrolled hypertension, anemia, history of bleeding, age > 60 years, renal dysfunction, and liver dysfunction. Each factor is scored as 1 if present.

The total score stratifies patients into low, intermediate, or high risk of major bleeding, assisting clinicians in individualized risk assessment and anticoagulation management decisions.
