Bova Score (PE Risk Stratification) Calculator

Bova Score: Explanation and Clinical Context Bova Score is a validated clinical tool to stratify early risk in patients with acute pulmonary embolism (PE) and identify those at higher risk of adverse outcomes, including hemodynamic decompensation. The score uses four variables: heart rate >110 bpm (1 point), systolic blood pressure 90–100 mmHg (1 point), elevated cardiac troponin (1 point), and right ventricular dysfunction on imaging (1 point). Total scores range from 0 to 4.

Risk stratification: 0–2 points: low risk (Class I–II), 3 points: intermediate risk (Class III), 4 points: high risk (Class IV). This tool helps clinicians identify PE patients who may require close monitoring, ICU admission, or more aggressive therapy.
