This score integrates key biochemical markers and clinical variables that reflect tumor burden, inflammation, metabolic activity, nutritional status, and stage of disease. Performance Status reflects overall physiologic reserve and tolerance to treatment.

Serum sodium decreases in paraneoplastic or advanced disease. Lactate dehydrogenase and alkaline phosphatase represent tumor activity and hepatic or skeletal involvement. Serum albumin indicates systemic inflammation and nutritional state.

Staging based on the TNM system discriminates localized from widespread disease which strongly affects prognosis. The total score places patients into low risk, intermediate risk, or high risk categories that correlate with distinct overall survival trajectories. This tool supports clinicians in refining prognosis estimation, guiding therapeutic intensity, and counseling patients and families.
