HbA1c Cardiac Event Prediction Model: Explanation and Clinical Context The HbA1c Cardiac Event Prediction Model estimates the 5-year risk of cardiovascular events based on patient age, HbA1c level, and history of cardiovascular disease. Higher HbA1c reflects poorer glycemic control and is independently associated with elevated cardiovascular risk. Age contributes linearly to risk, while a history of cardiovascular disease significantly increases the predicted probability of a future cardiac event.
This tool can aid clinicians in identifying high-risk patients with diabetes who may benefit from intensive cardiovascular prevention strategies.
